President Geingob leaves for Addis Ababa to attend the 32th AU Summit

President Hage Geingob leaves for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to attend the 32nd African Union (AU) Summit of the Heads of State and Government.
Spokesperson in the Presidency, Dr Alfredo Hengari, said in a statement that Dr Geingob, in his capacity as SADC Chairperson, is expected to preside over a consultative meeting of SADC Heads of State and Government tomorrow. Dr Geingob will also meet with the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, to discuss development in the regional block including matters of peace and security.
Dr Geingob. if time permits, is also expected in key meetings in which Namibia is a member, including the committee of Ten Heads of State and Government Champions for Science and Technology.
During his stay in Addis Ababa, President Geingob will also participate in a breakfast meeting on the 400th anniversary of the Atlantic Slave Trade to be hosted by Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and hold several bilateral talks.
This year's AU Summit will be held under the theme Refugees, Returnees and Internally Displaced Persons in Africa Towards Durable Solutions to Forced Displacement in Africa..
The President is expected to return home on Monday.
