Prime Minister meets with Cuban President Raul Castro

Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, on Thursday met with Cuban President Raul Castro and exchanged views on the already excellent relations between Namibia and Cuba.
The Prime Minister started an official visit to Cuba on Wednesday.
The meeting, which took place in Havana, re-affirmed the commitment to further improve the existing ties between the two countries. The two leaders also exchanged views on various international issues.
Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Kuugongelwa-Amadhila also met with Cuban Vice President, Miguel Diaz-Canel and the two described as excellent the status of bilateral ties between the two countries.
Diaz-Canel also expressed gratitude for the support Cuba received from Namibia after the destruction caused by Hurricane Irma which struck the island late last year. The Cuban vice president also lauded Namibia's support in fight against the more than 50 year old US blockade against Cuba.
At the start of the visit, the Prime Minister laid a wreath in honour of the Cuban internationalist fighters. Kuugongelwa-Amadhila also paid tribute to the legacy of Jose Marti, Cuba's founding father..
The Prime Minister is accompanied by Urban and Rural Development Minister, Peya Mushelenga while Namibia's ambassador to Cuba Jerobeam Shaanika is also in attendance.
