Protesters against SGBV gather at Windhoek Magistrate's Court

Protestors against sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) gathered at the Windhoek Magistrate's Court in solidarity with the 25 suspects arrested for allegedly violating the Public Gatherings Act and COVID-19 regulations on gatherings.
The protesters were, however, blocked by the police from entering the court and the streets around the court have been cordoned off.
The hearing, supposed to start at 10h00, still did not commence by 12h00.
The group also held a moment-of-silence to pay respect to victims of gender-based violence across the country.
They also pleaded with President Hage Geingob to pardon the suspects and for charges to be dropped against them, as they were allegedly not violent and were merely exercising their constitutional right of freedom of expression and association.
