Rehoboth Urban East residents want the Government to implement a law availing urban land to applicants with an agreement that allows them to sell the land only after 20 years, should they wish to do so.
They made these suggestions during a land consultative meeting presided over by the Chairperson of the Hardap Regional Council, Edward Wambo, who is also the constituency councillor.
The residents said the quest for urban land is tough and the only solution was to avail some 100 serviced erven every year to people to build houses with the agreement that the land should not be sold.
The landowner should only be allowed to do so after 20 years.
The meetings give residents a platform to ask pertinent questions on land issues ahead of the National Land Conference in October this year.
