Retrenched Swakopmund Beach Hotel employees protest against alleged unfair labour practices

Retrenched employees of Swakopmund Beach Hotel protested this afternoon against alleged unfair labour practices, such as not being given their retrenchment packages, unpaid salaries for three months and unlawful reduction of salaries for three months.
Employees have also allegedly not received 80% of their salaries for the month of April.
They are demanding to meet the hotel's board of directors before 21 July.
The protestors are also asking the Ministry of Home Affairs not to allow the general manager of the hotel, Peter Weichhart to leave the country until the matter has been resolved, fearing that he might not return back in the country as he has allegedly sold all his assets in Namibia.
