SADC achieves 77% project implementation

The SADC region has successfully achieved 77% with its project implementation.
This was revealed by SADC Executive Secretary Dr Stergomena Lawrence Tax on Friday at the beginning of the SADC Council of Ministers Meeting underway in Windhoek.
Dr Tax says among the implemented projects are those aimed at fostering the region's industrialisation drive, ensure competitiveness and regional integration.
The regional programmes centred on peace and security, infrastructure development and youth empowerment programmes in which SADC spent 76% of its budget between 2018-2019.
The SADC Chief, therefore, called for further resource mobilisation in order to continue with regional industrialisation programmes.
The SADC Council of Ministers Meeting will review the report on the implementation of the 2018/2019 Corporate Plan and the budget for 2019/2020.
Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Namibia's International Relations and Cooperation Minister, who is the chairperson of the council, opened the meeting.
