Salini Namibia granted court interdict against striking workers

The Windhoek High Court has granted Salini Namibia an interdict against striking workers to call off their illegal strike and return to work.

The striking workers at the Neckertal dam project outside Keetmanshoop in //Karas region downed tools illegally on Monday over souring labour relations.

The 400 workers demand the removal of Industrial Relations Officer and five Italians from the company due to alleged victimisation of workers.

They also demanded the reinstatement of two shopstewards who are on suspension and that Salini respect workers' rights and dignity.

//Karas Police Commander Johannes Tsuseb told NBC news that his office would on Friday read and explain the court interdict to the striking workers.

The court order reads that workers should not block the entrance gate to the construction site or prevent trucks of service providers and other workers from entering or leaving.
