Police spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi has condemned allegations of police violence made by residents of Okahandja, residing at the Promised Land area.
Yesterday, a resident told NBC News that a member of the police threatened to shoot him if he did not remove his shack.
The shack, according to the authorities has been put up illegally on municipal land.
Shikwambi says this is not true, pointing out that it is not the mandate of the police to assault or harm any individual.
The deputy commissioner further stressed that law enforcement officials are tasked to carry out their mandate with the utmost professionalism.
Shikwambi has asked the members of the public to adhere to instructions given by police officers and at the same time desist from false accusations against members of the force.
