Southern Waste Logistics Company plants lucerne on 100 hectares near Keetmanshoop's sewer reservoir

The Southern Waste Logistics Company in the //Karas Region has started planting lucerne seeds on 100 hectares of land near Keetmanshoop's sewer reservoir.
Project co-owner Wessel Wessels says drain water is suitable for lucerne and once the project is fully operational, communal and commercial farmers will benefit greatly.
He says it should be ready for harvesting by the end of October.
Wessels says once the project is fully implemented, it will create jobs for more than 30 people.
He was optimistic that the project will be a huge success, while plans are underway to cultivate vegetables and grapes.
Wessels praised the Keetmanshoop Municipality for having understood the benefits of the project and availed land for the lucerne plantation.
