The SWAPO Party Youth League (SPYL) is hard at work to educate the youth on the importance of participating in the upcoming elections.
SPYL Secretary Ephraim Nekongo told NBC News that some young people think that participation in political activities is for the elderly and returnees.
He said this perception is misleading, as he urged young people to take their rightful place in society and be ready to take over, from the elderly.
The SPYL leader said through the youth organisation's regional branches, the party managed to engage the youth on matters concerning elections and participating in party activities.
It is further preparing a social media team to create dialogue on matters concerning the country, especially education, unemployment and access to affordable housing.
Nekongo is convinced that the process will encourage more youngsters to join SWAPO, bringing new blood into the party to ensure its survival and dominance, for many years to come.
