SWAPO to retain its two-thirds majority with one seat in the National Council

SWAPO will retain its two-thirds majority with one seat in the National Council once the councillors are sworn in on Tuesday.
SWAPO will dominate the 42 member National Council with 29 councillors followed by the Landless People's Movement (LPM) with six, all from Hardap and Karas regions with two each from the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) and the United Democratic Front (UDF).
One independent candidate from Kavango East and a NUDO councillor complete the list of National Council members.
SWAPO will have no representation in the National Council from three regions, namely Kunene, Karas and Hardap.
