Teachers vote in favour of a strike

Ninety five percent of the teachers voted in favour of a strike.
The results were announced by NANTU President Simeon Kavila in Windhoek this afternoon.
The election came after a dispute was declared following failed negotiations between NANTU and the Government.
The teachers are demanding an 8% salary increase while Government says it can only afford 5%.
Simeon has however cautioned teachers that the strike is not yet effective as there are procedures that still need to be followed.
He says the date for the commencement of the strike will be announced in due course.
