Two men tie Otweya woman up, put baby in a plastic bag

The Erongo Police are investigating an attempted murder case in which two men allegedly tied a woman up and put her baby in a plastic bag at Otweya, Walvis Bay.
The Police Crime Investigations Coordinator says the two men wore balaclavas and cut open the victim's tent, where she slept with her two-week-old boy.
Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu indicated that the suspects cut open the tent at around 08h00 in the morning and tied up the victim's hands and feet and put sand in her mouth.
Iikuyu says the child was then put in a plastic bag and the perpetrators fled the scene.
A neighbour is reported to have heard the baby's cries and alerted the police when she found the woman tied up.
The victims were taken to the Walvis Bay State Hospital for treatment and observation.
Police say the victim and the baby are in a stable condition.
It is not yet clear whether the suspects have taken something from the tent.
The motive of the suspects is still unknown while the suspects are not yet identified.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is requested to contact Deputy Commissioner Iikuyu, at 0812464757 or Sergeant Hamukanda, at +264817925454 or report to the nearest police station.
The Erongo Police have further recorded two rape cases against minors at Tubusis and Omatjete.
A 17-year-old girl and a 14-year-old were raped in the week at knifepoint.
Bail for one of the suspects was denied while the other at Tubusis has yet to be arrested.
