UNAM staff on strike

UNAM employees are on strike. They are demanding a 6% increase backdated to the beginning of this year. Management and staff could not agree on an increase as UNAM management did not offer any wage increase while the workers wanted the 6% raise. Sixty-one percent of staff voted in favour of strike action.
Exams are ongoing even though strike rules says the university cannot hire employees to fill in for those on strike. The striking employees feel UNAM broke the rules. Union representatives and UNAM management have been in meetings since early this morning.
