UNAM and trade unions NAPWU and NANTU agreed to a once-off cash payment equivalent to 5% of seven months’ basic salary payable to all staff members within the bargaining unit on 14 December and those who are still in the employment of Unam at the time of signing of the agreement.
To end the strike the parties agreed to waive an increase in the salary for the 2018 financial year.
They have also agreed to a 6% salary increase for 2019 payable to all staff members who fall within the bargaining unit effective 1 January 2019.
The no-work-no-pay rule shall apply. Fifty per cent of the strike days shall be commuted to leave days and for those employees who were on strike for 11 days or more, the strike days shall be deducted in five equal monthly instalments as leave days.
Staff will return to work on Tuesday 13 November.
The strike lasted for two weeks.
