Vendors told to leave CBD

Street vendors who operate close to Shoprite in Windhoek's central business district (CBD) were told to leave the area this morning.
They claim that they were granted permission to sell their products from today by Gerry Shikesho, the spokesperson of the City Police but to their surprise, they were told to pack their things and go this morning.
Some vendors say they never received the N$750 Emergency Income Grant (EIG) and it the lockdown has been too long for them to stay home without earning an income, saying that's why they went to Shikesho to be approved to start selling.
They blame the Government for failing to create jobs for the youth.
Some say COVID-19 can't be the reason for them not to make a living requesting the City of Windhoek and the Government to come up with alternatives like creating new markets where they can sell their products.
