Windhoek exodus begins before lockdown

The B1 road between Windhoek and Okahandja is a hive of activity as Windhoek residents try to avoid being locked down in Windhoek, while others are entering the city to make sure they are not locked out at midnight.
Some of those who NBC News spoke to at the Windhoek-Okahandja checkpoint say they are rushing into the city to either evacuate family members or do last minute shopping before the lockdown comes into effect.
The 21-day lockdown for Khomas and Erongo regions comes into effect at midnight tonight.
