NFA opens January transfer window

With the second round of the 2017/18 season about to start in February, clubs are given another chance to strengthen their squad, with the transfer and registration of players for all leagues in full swing since Monday this week.
As per FIFA rules and laws, all associated football leagues open in January to allow the movement of players from one club to another, and Namibia is not excluded at all.
Namibia Premier League administrator, Tovey Hoebeb says local clubs also have the opportunity to acquire the service of players they want to play for their respective teams.
“Namibia is member of FIFA and we are part of this, so all clubs must know that the open window is open till the 9th of February. Clubs that want players from outside Namibia have time till the 2nd of February, but players from one team to another here locally have time till the 9th to do that”, states Hoebeb.
According to Hoebeb, there will be no extension and therefore teams must grab the opportunity to finalize their squad for the remainder of the season by releasing and acquiring new players.
Hoebeb further advised the teams that every player being release is required to have a national identity card or number, while also calling on the teams to respect the contract between them and players.
“The Current system contracts are only from one party and it only benefits the clubs, players only sign because they are being promised something. We want players to be part of the contract, they have to be represented even by their Union” Hoebeb concludes.
The first round of the 2017/18 NPL season started in October 2017 with the second round expected to start after Namibia’s participation in the African Nations Championship in Morocco next month.
