-The Namibian Food and Allied Workers Union (NAFAU), is threatening to call for a consumer boycott against all Shoprite shops across Namibia.
-Only days after Shoprite Namibia withdrew a lawsuit it also dropped the disciplinary action against its workers.
-Shoprite has withdrawn the summons against 93 of its employees that the company sued for N$4,5 million.
-Namibian activists have called for a boycott of Shoprite stores across the country.
-The Minister of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation, Erkki Nghimtina, has urged the Shoprite group to amicably resolve labour disputes with its employees by making a mutually-acceptable settlement with the workers who have been subjected to the prolonged disciplinary processes.
-Shoprite Namibia could face a countrywide consumer boycott if it does not resolve the labour dispute involving more than 200 workers.
