Indongo to fight for World Title

Namibia’s undefeated WBO Champion Julius Indongo is set to fight for his first-ever world title against Eduard Troyanovsky in Russia next month.

In a press statement issued by the World Boxing Organisation’s Best African Promoter of the Year, Nestor Tobias , it was announced that Julius Indongo is set to battle it out against Eduard Troyanovsky .

According to Tobias, the fight is for a unified world title. “ You would recall that this fight was supposed to take place two years ago when Troyanovsky was only the IBO world champion. The fight was then subsequently cancelled when he was offered a unification fight with the IBF world champion. Troyanovsky won that fight and became a unified champion.Thank God we are now able to make it happen but this time even bigger with two world titles from two different sanctioning bodies at stake, explained Tobias.

Indongo, who is also known as “Blue Machine” goes into the fight with an undefeated record of 20 straight wins from 20 fights - 10 of which were won by knock-out.
He is currently ranked as number four in the world by the WBO, while Troyanovsky currently holds both the IBF (International Boxing Federation) and IBO (International Boxing Organization) titles.

The promoter also added that, “we are extremely proud of this opportunity. It is indeed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for any deserving boxer, and an opportunity that does not just fall out of nowhere. It is one that you have to create over a number of years, coupled with consistency and a good record.

The fight is scheduled to take place on the third of December in Russia.
