Namibia’s T11 athlete, Lahja Ishitile, missed out on a spot in the final of the 100 metre (m) at the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships underway in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
Ishitile, who reached the semi-finals after finishing second in heat one of the T11 100m on Monday morning, came third in heat two of the semi-finals during the evening sessions.
World record holder Jerusa dos Santos Geber of Brazil and her guide Aparecido dos Santos Garcia Gabriel won that heat.
Ishitile and her guide, Sydney Kamuaruuma, clocked a time of 12.68 seconds, just behind China’s Cuiqing Liu and her guide Donglin Xu, who came second.
Ishitile is now expected to compete in the T11 200m heats on Tuesday night as well as the Namibian mixed relay team, expected to compete later in the competition.
Ananias Shikongo will also be competing in the T11 100m heats at the championships on Tuesday morning
