Let's make 2020 Year of Accountability - Mwiya

The Chief Administrator of the Namibia Sport Commission, Freddy Mwiya, is urging the Namibian sport fraternity to make this year one of accountability and implementation.
Mwiya was speaking to the NBC Sport Desk and outlined some of the Commission's plans for 2020.
The Chief Administrator explained that for the past three years the Commission was mostly in the planning phase and that they are now looking to start implementing those plans.
One of the key issues this year will be Governance and that come the new financial year from April all constitutions of the federations will be in line with the provisions of the new sport act.
Mwiya also said that they will be helping Sport Federations with office space as well.
“The short term vision of the Sport Commission was looking at how best can we professionalize sport and we talk about professionalizing sport in terms of providing office space to our affiliates.
I'm very happy to announce that very soon we are going to invite you whereby we are going to officially open the new office space for our Federations" Mwiya.
Last year the Commission also had to witness infighting at some federations, something Mwiya said was worrisome. As such his message to the sport fraternity is very clear.
“Let's have a passion for what we do in sport. If ever you want to become the president of a federation, the SG of the federation or an executive member of any federation, you need to have an open heart that you come there to serve. You don't need to come with a mind to come there to fight.
There are platforms where you can debate issues for the betterment of sport and that's what I would like to do to start from leadership" he added.
Mwiya also explained that they will be keeping an eye on the Namibia Football Association's elective congress which is set to take place on 22 February.
