Nande aims for top honours in golf career

After winning the sportsman of the year category at the Annual Namibian Sports Awards last year, Likius Nande’s winning streak keeps on giving, as he recently participated in a couple of golf tournaments where he emerged victoriously.
At this point in time, Nande does not have a personal trainer as he gets all his pointers and inspiration by watching YouTube videos.
He believes that daily practice and listening to his mentor is enough to keep him focussed.
Speaking at the Windhoek Country Club, Nande proudly pulled out four trophies and shed more light on the upcoming tournaments in which he will participate.
"I have played six tournaments and I have won four of those six tournaments. I won the Windhoek Open, the Gold Cup and the Oranjemund Open. Last weekend I won the Central Open and then I have also qualified for the Africa championships that will take place in August " Nande said.
Although this is Nande’s final year as an Amateur Golfer, he still looks forward to invest in himself by entering into a qualifying school in South Africa and eventually turn Pro at the Sunshine and Asian tour.
" My dream has always been to play this game. This is not just for fun, but to make something out of it and that’s what we are working on now, I got a full year to work on it and I’m at this level where I can compete internationally" he said.
For now, Nande’s main focus is on the Oranjemund Open, which will be taking place from the 23rd to the 24th at Oranjemund. Later he will switch to the region 5 team champions from the 7th to the 12th of April in Swakopmund.
