NFA employees yet to receive January salary

NFA employees yet to receive January salary

Employees of the Namibia Football Association, who usually get their salaries on time at the end of every month, experienced a dry festive season as their salary for December was not paid on time, while their January salary is yet to reach their accounts as well.
Sources from the NFA house have said that they do not understand why they could not be paid their salary for December on time and why the one for January hasn't been paid over either.
With the previous NFA Executive Committee no longer in charge, the employees' fate is now in the care of the newly appointed Fifa/NFA Normalisation Committee under the stewardship of Hilda Basson-Namundjebo.
“It came under my attention that the employees were not paid in December. What I picked up now is that their December salary was recently paid. We are meeting in the next two or three days to see how we will take it up” Basson-Namundjebo.
The NFA Secretariat's salary is being paid by the world's football governing body FIFA and the problem is said to be caused by FIFA's funding embargo on the country as a results of the leadership squabbles that rocked the local football governing body and hit a high level last December.
It is alleged that FIFA will open its financial pipes again now that its Normalisation Committee has taken over the operations of the office officially.
