The World Boxing Organization has awarded a plaque of excellence to Walter Kautondokwa in recognition of his ability as a professional boxer in defending his WBO Africa Middleweight title at the WBO Panama Convention in Panama City.
This being the 5th time to successfully defend his WBO title, Walter Kautondokwa currently holds two titles - one from the WBO and one from the IBF.
He said he could not be more proud as a boxer, as he believes his success is the work of the lord.
Kautondokwa said the recent award was unexpected and will serve as motivation - despite his defeat in his previous fight against Demetrius Andrade.
“God has the way of blessing and who to bless so it's really a blessing to me to be chosen as an Africa fighter of the year, it really motivated me to put more hard work on my career” Kautondokwa said.
Kautondokwa is adamant to work harder, rectify all his flaws and set a winning strategy to bounce back after the setback.
He feels very fortunate to be chosen among other boxing champs.
“It is not easy there are a lot of guys that have been fighting the whole year their world champion that have WBO and we were in the same category and I was chosen” he said.
Lastly, Koutondokwa believes 2018 was a good year as he feels that he has generally improved, experienced the do's and don'ts and elevated his boxing career altogether. And since it is festive season.
Kautondokwa urges the public to travel safely.
