Tigers avenge cup defeat by beating African Stars in NPL

Following their defeat against African Stars in the Standard Bank Cup final over the weekend, Tigers took sweet revenge by beating them 1-0 in a crucial NPL match, which was played at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Monday night.
Barely three days after meeting in the Standard Bank Cup final, African Stars and Tigers returned to the same venue for an NPL match.
With Stars assured of ending the season in second place behind champions Black Africa, the match was of importance for Tigers, in order to stay away from any relegation danger.
After a 0-0 at the change-over, the two teams returned to the pitch looking for a goal that would separate them.
Tigers, who used new faces and who stood firm against Stars for much of the night, brought in their influential captain Absalom Iimbondi, who wasted little time to put the ball in the back of the net in the 60th minute.
With African Stars not coming to the party, Tigers held on to their lead until the final whistle was blown.
“I think we deserves the win. We play good - and today we gave them a good run again and we scored unlike the weekend were we play good and failed to net” Iimbondi said.
With the win, Tigers are now in the 9th place, three points away from a Top 8 position with 32 points in the kitty.
