Women's hockey team uses SA series as preparation for WC

National Senior Women's Hockey team coach Erwin Handura is focusing his attention on sharpening his team members' skills for the upcoming Hockey World Cup qualifiers in Spain, after a brief performance at the just-concluded Annual Indoor Hockey test series in South Africa.
The senior women's hockey squad, which participated in the three Test series in Johannesburg, South Africa, did considerable well.
Prior to the series, they were excited to compete against the best squads in southern Africa.
The team managed to move up in the ranking by beating Zambia in the tournament.
Coach Erwin Handura, who is still delighted with the ladies' performance, said they nonetheless need to work hard as they always study the available footage after each of their matches.
"We had some great result particular we faced two games were we lost one zero and two zero respectively and those two games we showed that our games has improved" Handura said.
Handura said they closed the gap between them and and South Africa who is currently number one in out-door competition within Africa.
The team however encountered some challenges as three of the key players got injured during the series.
The test series was used for the senior team to prepare for the World Cup qualyfier in Spain between 19th and 27th of June.
