Zambia beat Germany 4-3 after extra-time to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Under-20 World Cup yesterday.
Zambia booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the Under-20 World Cup, despite Germany pushing them to extra-time.
The European side took the lead in the first half when Philipp Ochs' free kick nestled into the top corner.
Zambia struck back early in the second half when Germany failed to clear a cross and Emmanuel Banda smashed the ball into the back of the net.
The African side took advantage in the 68th minute when goalkeeper Svend Brodersen failed to save Fashion Sakala's shot.
Enock Mwepu made it 3-1 in the 86th minute and Zambia looked like they would cruise into the next round.
Germany had other ideas however, when Suat Serdar's piece of skill in the box closed the deficit to one goal.
With 10 seconds left of stoppage time, Jonas Arweiler found himself in front of Zambia's goal and slotted the ball into the bottom corner to force extra-time.
With the match on a knife-edge, Shemmy Mayembe tipped the scales for Zambia when his strike from just inside the box was too much for German 'keeper Brodersen to handle.
Zambia held onto their slight advantage to book their place in the quarter-finals and will face either France or Italy.
